Background on the Canada's Top 100 Employers project and its founders
|
Now entering its 8th year, the Canada's Top 100 Employers competition is one of Canada's best-known annual awards. The project initially began as a research interest by author Richard Yerema and his publisher at Mediacorp, Tony Meehan. Richard Yerema is Canada's best-selling career author. His other book, The Career Directory, is now entering its 16th edition and has helped hundreds of thousands of young Canadians find rewarding careers. It was through this book that the "Top 100 Employer" project developed. While working on The Career Directory, Richard noticed a number of exceptional employers going out of their way to attract and retain quality staff. With the research staff at Mediacorp, Richard edited the first edition of Canada's Top 100 Employers in 2000 to profile these forward-thinking companies and organizations. Richard is a graduate of the University of Toronto and resides in Toronto. Our publishing company, Mediacorp Canada Inc., is Canada's largest publisher of quality employment periodicals. We specialize in publishing directories and guides that let job-hunters find great employers and interesting new job opportunities in their field. Since 1992, more than one million of our job-hunting guides have been sold. Our latest project is a new online search engine that brings together all our employment guides to create a spectacular research tool for job-seekers. We also organize a major conference on Canada's Top 100 Employers project each spring, which is Canada's largest annual event for senior-level human resources professionals and executives. |
